MoVE + #MeToo

Millennials of New Orleans along with policy experts, civic leaders and advocates gathered at Café Istanbul where they engaged in a panel discussion featuring Senator Mary Landrieu and Council Member Helena Moreno.

This panel discussion focused on how young people can proactively engage with sexual violence prevention and survivor support while seeking justice in a system that historically fails to address the needs of victims of color, transgender victims, and victims who are poor.

In our panel discussion, we aimed to facilitate concrete actions to reduce sexual violence. Young people considered how sexual violence impacts their community and learned how they can further engage in prevention and survivor support. Millennials left the event with strategies and paths to transition from reactive efforts to proactive prevention.

Millennials Matter: Mayoral Forum

1/8

The MoVE Initiative gathered Millennials to discuss our organizational platform with candidates vying to lead New Orleans. We used the event as an opportunity to endorse leaders who will fight for millennials and our vision for New Orleans. We continuously work to change how politicians view young people in this city. Following the forum, New Orleans' very own, Big Freedia took over the stage to entertain.

Panel to Find Our Own Paths

1/7

We came together as Millennials to network and vote on a platform that represented our needs as young people. From our panelists to our moderator to our businesses that participated in giveaways, the event was run by Millennials.
